How to help your gut. Naturally!

I’ve been dealing with a gut issue for a few months. At first I didn’t even know what  was wrong. And after many dr. appointments that were turning up with nothing, I prayerfully asked God to show me what was the issue. Do you know he answers us? It’s a small whisper most times, sometimes you may even think it’s coincidence BUT GOD ALWAYS WILL MAKE HIS PRESENCE KNOWN IF YOU ARE OPEN TO HEAR HIM.

I have been suffering with an uppper GI issue…better known as heart burn. Daily heart burn. DAILY. You would think I would instantly know what it was, but it wasn’t like the kind where acid is coming up your throat. It just felt like pressure in my chest. At first, I thought there was a massive tumor behind my chest wall (because ya know, I’m so dramatic) but honestly it felt like a ball of pressure behind my chest cavity. It would come and go. At times I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I honestly started panicking when it was so heavy that I felt as if a man was sitting on my chest. So when I realized (aka God showed me) what the issue was and I had gone through a butt load of testing for nothing (EKG screening, chest X-ray, a full blood work up, and a complete physical, with no ailments showing on anything,) And my doctor wanted me to take 4, yes FOUR medications…I’m like “ummm, no thanks!” Let’s try to find some solutions in nature!

I am not one to automatically jump to modern medicine. Yes, I know there are countless, countless times that modern drugs have helped healed ailments, BUT I want to always at least TRY to find a more natural remedy, with pharmaceuticals being that absolute last result. Call me crazy, call me stubborn, call me a high maitenence hippy. I’m totally ok with you calling me all those things *SMILE. But I will always tend to lean more on what is found in nature first. PERIOD.

So here’s my daily routine that literally has taken me from a 8 or 9 on a ten point scale to a 1 or 2, to days without any issues in general. Gi issues are so common now a days, and I think most people tend to show their gut issues with being unable to go to the bathroom. This really wasn’t the case for me, maybe once in a while. But I promise you, try these remedies and you will carry a lighter load immediately. These natural products SIGNIFICANTLY helped my heart burn and the overall health of my gut.

I start every morning with warm lemon water on an empty stomach. Filtered water poured into an electric kettle finished with half a fresh squeezed lemon. You want the water warm. Not hot, but warm. I drink it through a straw because guess what? Lemon is so acidic that it can eat the enamel of your teeth and cause them to be sensitive to cold. This is a natural diaretic. It will flush out your system. Oh yes it will. Does anyone else get super excited about having a good bowel movement? I know, I know, TMI. But it just feels Oh So Good!

Another thing I do daily is drink Apple Cider Vinegar. It must be organic, and unfiltered and have the “mother load.” Walmart sells it way cheaper than Whole foods. Oh yes they do. I pour 2 teaspoons in a shot glass, add a small amount of water and again drink with a straw. This literally makes me gag, and my eyes water. Anyone watching me to do would probably be amused at my facial expressions. But do you know the health benefits to ACV? They will blow your mind! Here’s just a few…

  • boosts energy, weight loss and metabolism
  • prevents candida and normalize intestinal bacteria
  • detoxifies the body
  • improves digestion
  • strengthens the immune system
  • dissolves kidney stones

OMG the list goes on and on. I’m going to go take a shot right now!

After doing a lot of research about heart burn, I added aloe juice to my daily routine. I take 2-3 tablesppons of it. Honestly I just drink it straight from the bottle. It doesn’t taste that bad. I mean, it’s not good, but it isn’t the worst thing I’ve had in the name of health! The health benefits to drinking aloe juice are amazing as well!

  • great for constipation
  • relieves heartburn
  • nutritious boost
  • helps liver function
  • it is alkaline
  • helps to clear up skin

The list goes on and on for it. Just google it!

To top it all off, I make sure to always take a good probiotic once a day and a digestive enzyme right before I eat. Both great for a healthy gut!

I’m serious when I say that my heart burn would be so bad that it would cause me to panic. All of these supplements have tremendously helped heal my body. A few other things I did to help heal me

  1. Kept a food log to see what would trigger me. Biggest thing? COFFEE Oh my beloved coffee. I gave it up for months. I am slowly adding it back in 1-2 days a week and have switched to decaf. BLAH. but at least I get the coffee taste
  2. I drink a minimum of at least 80 ounces of water a day.
  3. I make sure to take Magnesium at night. It will soften your stool. sorry but it does.
  4. I watch eating super spicy foods.
  5. I watch my stress level. I believe stress is the main reason why I started experiencing heart burn in the first place. Another blog to come about this.
  6. I started doing some deep breathing exercises to open up my lungs and esphogus.

I really hope this helps anyone dealing with gut issues. I promise they work! PLUS all these added supplements and my gut operating better led to a FLATTER STOMACH. Oh ya! Win win! Side note: No I am not a DR. so if you have a major concern please go see a DR. But I do know they have been a major game changer for me!

One more thing that I am in the process of doing is getting a food allergy screening, to make sure that I am not eating foods that my body does not like. I will post a blog when all that is complete. Please let me know if you tried any of these supplements and they have helped you or if you found other natural supplements that helps with gut health.

Blessings

XO
